Marathon Training! Week 13
This past week was a “rest” week. I still ran, but just 3-4 miles at a time.
The highlight of the week, by far, was seeing a gorgeous rainbow on one run. It extended completely across the sky, in a perfect arch. (I only wish I had a picture of it, but I know I’m not talented enough to run and carry a camera.)
I felt thankful because, in addition to giving me better health and an excuse to eat large amounts of food, marathon training has allowed me to see some of the most gorgeous scenes outside.
At this point, I feel very content with my marathon training. Though I had (quite!) a few doubts before I started, I’m so glad that I decided to do this. It has challenged me in so many ways, yet it has brought me joy and surprises.
I know that there will be many more challenges on this journey. But hopefully there will also be many more times that I can appreciate the view – and maybe a rainbow – along the way.

i can't believe it's week 13...on one hand, you seem to have been doing this all year and on the other, it seems like you only just started!!
you should come train in my neck of the woods and you'd have rainbows to your heart's content...we call my area "the land of the rainbow"...and i love it! :)
I really am so impressed. I've been running consistently for eight days now and am proud of myself for that. When's the actual marathon again?
Everyone I know who has trained expresses these same feelings. I know it will continue to do well and you'll triumph in the marathon. Keep up the good work!
It's the little things in life isn't it?
So did you watch the olympics marathon the other night (did I ask you this already--i forget these type things easily)... that dude ran it in 2 hours and 6 minutes! That is nuts! Put a pic of that guy on your frig for some inspiration!
Fantastic post! I agree: Noticing beauty in nature is one of the great pleasures/rewards of running. How about taking pictures of the surrounding scenery with your cell phone camera? It's certainly a whole lot less cumbersome than running with a digital camera. ;-)
LOL, regarding marathon training being a great excuse to eat more food. ;-) I'm currently doing 4-6 miles about 3-4 times a week, & haven't yet began marathon training, but can certainly relate to your thought process & increased appetite. ;-)
Sounds like you've got the right approach to marathon training. Hope your training is going well!
