Lawn Help

I have a hunch that our lawn might need some help. How do I know? Because yesterday a man drove up to our house, rang our doorbell (twice!), and waited patiently at the door, so he could offer to mow it. You know, just a normal, subtle hint. Husband talked to the man. The man said something like, “Hey, man, do you need any service?” “For what?” Husband asked. The man gestured to our scraggly lawn and said, “To clean up your lawn.” Husband replied politely, “No, thanks.” I figure that this is a sign that either our lawn or the economy is in pretty bad shape. Later I reflected and told Husband that we should have let him do the lawn. “Why? I’m going to mow it today anyway,” Husband said. I explained that maybe the man really needed the money. “Nah,” Husband said. “He drove up in a fancy, new pick-up truck that costs more than both of our cars combined.” In other words, our lawn is just that bad.

I doubt your lawn is that bad. When we owned our home people rang the bell all the time asking to mow the lawn. One memorable time we had a kid who had mowed the front and while he was mowing the back someone ELSE rang the bell wanting to mow the lawn.

Oh, and I *heart* lawn service.

This reminds me of when my hairdresser offers to wax my eyebrows. Clearly they are trying to tell me something. But for some reason when people go about it this way, you know subtly letting you know something looks wrong, it makes me automatically turn them down.

í'm sure mine would be like that if i didn't have an awesome friend who regularly mows it for me without being asked!!!

Haha, if it would have been me, I would have said mow the lawn just to be done with it.

It is amazing the money to be made in lawn care...esp. when I visit daughter in Dallas. I hear the leaf blowers starting up around 7 am. Course the yards all look awesome. Those guys can mow, weedeat and blow in 30 minutes and they are on to the next yard. Bet that's how the guy got the new truck....
Have a good day!

We have people show up at our house offering to do random lawn chores too. Maybe our lawns have the same "style". lol!

I'm with you and Biology gal! Peeps want to wash my windows, clean my gutters, pressure wash my drive, trim my trees, repaint the numbers on my curb, etc, etc. Is my house really in such disrepair?

I would give just about anything not to have to do our yard. I have yet to have anyone offer and believe me, mine often looks like a jungle!

(PS I like your blog) :)
